Fall Cleanup in Manistee County

Leaf removal, final mow, optional gutter sweep. Done before the snow flies so spring is easy.

Northern Michigan falls are spectacular and merciless. The leaves are gorgeous for two weeks and a problem for two months. Mat them under snow and you have a soggy dead lawn in April.

We handle fall cleanup in two ways. Where the canopy is light, we mulch-and-mow — chopping leaves into the lawn as fertilizer. Where the load is heavy, we bag and haul. Most properties end up with a hybrid, and we walk it with you so you know what your property gets.

What's included

  • Multiple cleanup visits during peak leaf drop (typical: 2–3)
  • Mulch-and-mow where canopy is light or moderate
  • Bag-and-haul where leaf load is too heavy to mulch
  • Final mow of the season included
  • Bed cleanup — leaves out, dead annuals pulled
  • Optional gutter sweep on Tier 2+ properties
  • Hauled and dumped — nothing piled at the curb

How it works

  1. 1

    Quote the property

Flat tier-based pricing plus a heavy-leaf-load surcharge on Tier 3+ properties under significant canopy. Quoted up front.

  2. 2

    First leaf-drop visit

Late September or early October on most properties. We mulch the early drop into the lawn where we can.

  3. 3

    Mid- and peak-drop visits

Two more visits during peak drop, depending on your tree mix. Bag-and-haul kicks in once mulching can't keep up.

  4. 4

    Final cleanup + final mow

Last visit clears the residual leaves, takes a final mow, and closes the season. Optional gutter sweep included on Tier 2+.

Who this is for

  • Properties with significant tree canopy (oaks, maples, beech)
  • Cottage owners closing up for the season
  • Anyone who'd rather skip the rake-and-bag weekends
  • Customers who already get weekly mowing and want the cleanup bundled

What makes our fall cleanup different

  • Mulch-and-mow first where it works — fewer bags, healthier lawn
  • Bagged and hauled where it doesn't — no piles left curbside
  • Final mow of the season included

Frequently asked

  • When should I book my fall cleanup?

August is ideal. Bookings close by mid-September most years — we'd rather turn customers down than commit to a route we can't run.

  • Mulch or bag — which is better for my lawn?

Mulch is better for the lawn (returns nutrients, fewer bags, no haul-away cost). But it only works up to a certain leaf load. Properties under heavy oak or maple canopy almost always need a hybrid: mulch the early drop, bag the peak.

  • Do you also handle the inside of the property at fall closeup?

No — we're outside only. We can recommend cleaners and handyman services for shutting the cottage down.

  • Can fall cleanup be bundled with weekly mowing?

Yes, and it's the default for our weekly customers. The cleanup just folds into the route over a few weeks in October and November.
